New Plant of the Oben Group starts operations in Central America
OPP Film El Salvador, an Oben Holding Group company, achieved a successful start-up in record time of its first BOPP line in Central America, with a production capacity of 35,000 MT/year. The 8.7-meter line will produce high-quality plastic films, primarily for the flexible packaging industry. This first phase will be complemented by the upcoming installation of a 4.5-meter-wide high-volume metallizer with a production capacity of 15,000 MT/year, which will develop high-barrier films for the food industry.
The second phase of the project will begin with the installation of the second BOPP line with the same characteristics and production capacity, and it is estimated that it will come into operation by the end of this year. This mega project, the only one of its kind in the Central American region, will serve to supply and boost the growing demand throughout Central America and the Caribbean, and to serve customers in North American countries in less time.
Oben Holding Group has its main offices in Lima, Peru. It has production plants in 6 countries in South and Central America where BOPP, CPP, BOPET, BOPA films, Extrusion Coated Products and Thermoformed Products are produced with a total production capacity of 365,000 MT/year.
